Transferring Ownership of Files
If you only have a few files that you would like to keep:
From your FHPS Google account, share the files you wish to keep individually with your personal Google account.
Log in to your personal Google account, open Drive, and click on the Shared with me link in the left sidebar. If you have many files already in your personal account you may want to type your FHPS Google account name in the search box at the top to show only those files.
Check the box at the top to the left of Title to select all the files.
In the More drop-down, select "Make a Copy." This will automatically make a copy of the selected files. The file name will be proceeded by "Copy of." Your personal account is the owner of these files (the copies).
If you wish, you can now delete the original file that was shared with you (or wait until August when your FHPS account is deleted and the original files will be deleted automatically).
If you have lots of files that you wish to transfer, it will be easier to place all the files into a single folder to share. To do this:
In your FHPS Google account, create a new folder in Drive and name it (maybe something like "Transfer").
Move all the files you wish to transfer to your personal account into this folder.
Share the folder with your personal account. When you share a folder, all the files in the folder are automatically shared as well.
Log into your personal account and open Drive.
Open the folder you just shared and check the box at the top to the left of Title to select all the files.
In the More drop-down, select "Make a Copy." This will automatically make a copy of the selected files (you can only make a copy of files, not folders). The file names will be proceeded by "Copy of." Your personal account is the owner of these files (the copies).
If you wish, you can now delete the original files that were shared with you. If there are lots of files, it will probably be easier to wait until August when your FHPS account is deleted and the original files will be deleted automatically.
